About Us

about

The land upon which Kingston is located was originally owned by James Ritchie, who occupied it in 1805. Soon after that date, Thomas Ing came into possession of a forty-acre track upon which the Village of Ingstown was located, and in 1816 the town was regularly laid out and christened Kingston. Kingston was incorporated as a village by special act of the legislature passed in the winter of 1834 and officially became the Village of Kingston, Ohio.

In the day of stage coaches, Kingston being located on the main thoroughfare between Lancaster and Chillicothe, many of the distinguished men of the day passed through Kingston.

Today the Village of Kingston is a zoned community which has a total area of 0.37 square miles located in Green Township of Ross County. There is a library, post office, and two nice parks. A smaller park is across from the post office, and a larger park is the playing area of the Kingston Youth League (baseball) and Zane Trace Youth Soccer League (Kingston Youth Soccer). This larger park also has a shelter house and a newly updated playground.

Residents here will tell you that Kingston is a quiet, close-knit community great for families. The businesses there also provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
